Our first stop

While I spent the day doing laundry, weeding the garden, cleaning and airing out camping gear, I managed to go through the photos from the trip a bit more. I am sure I will be doing more laundry tomorrow and cleaning the vomit off the floor of the truck, there is just so much to do when we return home from one of these trips! I thought I would share some photos and a little bit about the places we visited through out the week. Don’t worry I’ll post some recipes and answer some questions too. I have been gone a long time and there are plenty of meals waiting for us to sample.

Our first stop on our tour was in Ohio. We didn’t want to set up the tent in the dark so we planned a stop so we could arrive in the late afternoon. We chose Dillon State Park on Interstate 70 just outside of Zanesville, Ohio. It was a lovely spot with a large lake and level sites. Since we arrived on a Thursday the campground was almost empty. We set up our campsite, took a small walk, played, and went to sleep.

Playing in the bathtub. We decided to make our own bath house at the campsites we stayed at as some of them had pay showers and that can get expensive for 6 people. With a feeding trough and some tarps we had a nice cozy place for the children to bathe. 002 003 004014  My husband made a small rope swing for the children to play on. There was also a playground at the end of the road we were on.

Playing on the slide!

Leapster’s were the only entertainment we brought along with us. Mostly they listened to me read books and watch out the window the country passing by. We thought they all did really well sitting so close together in the F150 for such long periods of time. We took our time the next morning as we only had to drive 3 hours to our next stop.037

  1. I can't wait to hear and see all about your trip. I am not a camper but need to be for my families sake (they love it) so I am enjoying hearing about your adventures.

  2. so glad you had a safe trip. The kids looked so happy in the pictures. I am thinking that makes cleaning vomit out of the truck worth it. Can't wait to see how you scrap your photos.
