March 7th

Carson, Jen, Elizabeth, and Andrew came down for the weekend to visit with the family. It was 75 degrees and we spent the day at the park and playing in the yard. It was so warm and we are not used to it yet nor did we have the proper clothing. After getting nice and dirty we gave the children baths and went out to Maccado's for dinner. All the children were worn out from playing outside all day they even got a little sunburn because we didn't realize how hot it really was. When you leave the house in a snowstorm its hard to think about warm weather and all the things that go along with it. What a strange week weather wise! Freezing cold and snow to 80 degrees and sunny in 5 days! I couldn't choose just one photo today, there were so many good ones!

Carol Lee Donuts, those three little words bring back so many wonderful memories. The little donut shop which used to be downtown was a favorite place for many years. I used to go there as a child with my Daddy on special "dates", hang out with friends on a Saturday, or go during Sunday school while at church. I loved the small town feel of the place. Orange Formica booths, fake butcher block counter tops, and a bar that you could sit at and watch the people walk by and play on the lawn across the street. The smells were just as wonderful, fresh baked donuts and coffee every time you walked by. I still miss the shop downtown but at least you can still get the donuts. They are still the best donuts I have ever tasted and every time I bite into one I am reminded again of memories from long ago.

March 5th

Today was errand day. We went to Michaels to purchase a shadow box frame for my baby outfit, Barnes and Noble to spend out gift cards, Chic-fil-a for lunch and playtime, and then to Opa's(my Dad's) office for a small tour of the Vet School. Miles is fascinated my what my Dad does and wants to know everything. Fiona just loves animals. Fortunately she hasn't figured out that he only works with the dead ones as an animal pathologist. I have to say the 1 1/2 in the bookstore were the favorites of everyone. I am so thankful all of my children love books and reading.

March 4th

Today we went to the church library so Mom could get some work done. She is the Church librarian and has been for over 15 years. The boys did their school work and then we read books all morning. It's so nice to find so many good books all in one place. I made a list to take home so I could order some for the boys to read. Someday I'll have to make a list of my favorites nad must reads. So many books so little time!

While we are here visiting I brought school along with us. We are doing school in a box this week. It is one of the many joys of schooling at home, we are portable and can go anywhere.

Snow Day

Who could resist playing in the snow? Even if its only 10 degrees! The only problem- no snow boots or pants we left them at home. So after a little "back to old school techniques" everyone's feet stayed nice and dry. Do you remember doing this as child?

Happy Birthday Mom

Today was my Mom's birthday. The children had a blast celebrating with her for the FIRST time. We went shopping and bought her flowers and chocolate. They had so much fun sneaking around the store picking things out for her. We then came home and made a cake, Gwen "helped" me frost it and we all enjoyed eating it.

New Carseat

So I have decided to tackle the 365 project. Basically you take a picture a day and journal a bit and then esch week you do a scrapbook layout so at the end of a year you have an entire day in the life album. I know I am starting two months late but it seems to be a good time for me. My birthday is this month and it feels like a good starting point. Of course I am all ready behind but then that's nothing new, I seem to live my life from behind watching and waiting for things to happen and then jumping in at warp speed. And when have I ever done anything the easy way? So here is the photo for the day. We spent most of the day driving down to Blacksburg(my hometown) so I only took one photo. Gwen has officially moved out of her baby car seat and into a booster. She weighs over 30 pounds and couldn't stand the harness clip between her legs one minute longer. I don't think I could either, if I was wearing a dress and the metal is cold! She was SO excited to be a "big" girl just like sister.
